Forged Like Gold: My Word for 2026

For the last two years it has felt like we’ve been walking in the fire, growing and learning through change. We went from uprooting everything, to walking into the unknown, depending solely on God’s provision, to finally feeling like we’re coming out of the furnace. That’s why my word for 2026 is forge.

What is forging?

Forging is the process of shaping metal, and depending on the material, it can happen through heat or cold. Gold, in particular, is refined by being heated to soften its structure and then cooled so it can be held and shaped. Once it reaches that point, it’s carefully hammered into a specific form. While the forging itself is the hardest part of the process, it’s gives the gold its strength and value.

What does that mean for me?

When I think about forging in my own life, I see myself as that piece of gold that has been placed in the fire. Being in that fire has softened areas in my heart that I didn’t realize needed healing and surrender. But God has been busy at work, separating what is pure from the impurities that have clouded my walk with Him.

“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The past two years have been a journey of breaking down mindsets that hindered my growth and didn’t allow for me to fully trust Him. And now, it feels as if the heat is finally being turned down. The refining has done its work, and I’m now entering a season of being held in His hands. 2026 will be the season where God reshapes what still needs forming and will strengthen what He has already refined. It’s Him preparing me (this includes my family) for the mission He has placed before me. Now is the time to be forged.

“I will bring the one–third through the fire, Will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’ ””

‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭13‬:‭9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

As I walk into 2026 with forge as my guiding word, I will trust God throughout the entire journey.. I may not always understand the timing or the pressure, but I believe the hands holding me are steady and good. If this season requires refining, then I welcome it, knowing that what God is forming in me will be strong, purposeful, and ready for what’s ahead. This is the year I lean into the shaping, confident that nothing in His hands is ever wasted.

I’d love to hear what word or scripture you’re carrying into 2026. Share it in the comments so we can encourage each other as we walk through this journey!

There were two words spoken over us at church, on New Year’s Eve and on the first Sunday of the year: Chosen and Abundance. I will try to walk in both. Happy New Year!🙏🏽 🎉💖

This post really resonates with where I’m at. The image of forging and refining speaks clearly to the way God has been breaking down old mindsets in me, and teaching me to truly listen for His voice. It’s challenging, but comforting to be reminded that the pressure has purpose and that nothing in His hands is wasted. Thank you for sharing this. I’ve been encouragied 🤍
