Raising Our Children in Truth When The World Is Loud

I don’t have to tell you that the world is loud. Everywhere we turn, there’s noise: on social media, in entertainment, even in books and lessons that our kids are exposed to. The thing is that these voices aren’t just making noise, they’re discipling. They are shaping beliefs, values and worldviews. And if we’re not intentional, they will even disciple our own kids faster than we can imagine.

The good news is, God has called us, as mothers, to be the primary disciplers of our children. That calling isn’t an afterthought but a mission from the Lord, Himself. Raising our kids in truth isn’t just about protecting them from the lies of the world; it’s intentionally filling their hearts and minds with Gods word, every single day.

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭NKJV

The world will disciple your kids, if you don’t

Just because we go to church on Sundays or read the Bible a few times a week at home, does it mean that’s enough to outweigh the constant message our kids hear from the world. The enemy is strategic and knows that if he can steal our kids hearts and minds early on, he can shape their lives.

This is why we can’t be passive in this matter. Christian motherhood is active, intentional and rooted in the Word of God, which is the Truth! Our kids need to know that Truth. But they also need to know why it’s true and how to live in it.

Raising kids who know Truth in a loud world

As a mother, this can all feel overwhelming, but this is exactly where God has placed us. He hasn’t left us unequipped! He’s called us to raise kids who don’t just hear truth but know it, love it and can stand on its firm foundation when the noise of the world tries to pull them away. Here are a few ways we can faithfully walk out this calling:

Anchor your own heart in Gods word.

Before we can pour truth into our children, we have to be rooted in it ourselves. Even if it’s a few verses while the coffee brews, choose to start your day with scripture. Our kids don’t just hear what we teach them, they watch us to see if we are living it out.

Let Truth flow in everyday moments.

Discipleship doesn’t have to be a formal lesson as the table. God calls us to talk about His word when we walk, sit, rise and lie down (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). That means that folding laundry can turn into a conversation about serving with joy. A car ride can become a moment to remind them of God’s faithfulness. Cleaning the kitchen can become a teaching moment of gratitude for all the things God provides for us daily. Ordinary moments can become powerful, spirit filled moments we fill them with Truth.

Guard their heads front competing voices.

Not everything that is labeled “family friendly” is actually good for their souls. Be watchful about what they watch, read, and listen to. It’s not so much about sheltering them from everything out there, but about shepherding them with discernment.

Teach them to see the world through scripture.

Our kids won’t always live with us, so they need to know how to filter everything they see and hear through the lens of Gods Word. When today’s culture says one thing, sit with them “What does the word of God say?”. Help them practicing comparison everything to scripture until it becomes second nature in their lives.

The reward is eternal

This work isn’t always easy. Most times it’s slow, repetitive and unseen. But God sees. And He promises that His word will not return void.

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The seed you plant today, the prayers you pray, the conversations you have, the scripture you teach, are building roots that will help your children stand when the world tries to get them to fall.

So when the world gets loud, don’t fall back. Get louder in the Truth of Gods word in your home!

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
‭‭III John‬ ‭1‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We’ve been called, equipped, and empowered for this mission. Let’s raise children who know the voice of the Shepherd and will follow Him all of their days.

I love everything about this blog! I feel like it’s so relatable. We always talk about how we can’t pour from an empty cup when it comes to friendships and relationships but we don’t talk about it enough when it comes to our children. We must pour into ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually to pour back into them.
