Life Update: We’re Moving… Again

If feels like it was just the other day when I shared on my YouTube channel that we were selling our house. That was back in 2023 and the house officially sold last year in January. At the time, we didn’t know if we wanted to buy or rent next, because the hope was to start running our HVAV business full time. I had also found out I was pregnant at the very end of 2023 and living with my parents was a tight arrangement already, let alone with a baby in the mix. So finding a place to live before July 2024 was extremely important.

October 2023 – Life Update

Prices on rental properties are up the roof but so were prices on house to buy. At that point, we had already brought down a lot of debt and paid of our mini van complete so thankfully, we were able to afford anything that came our way. But with the time frame, renting was the best option for us. We finally found a house to move into in May, in which I shared a little update on that on my BookTube channel.

May 2024 – Life update

Fast forward to almost a year later… We transitioned to a new church which is farther than the previous one we attended and it takes us an hour to get to church every week; quite a drive if you ask me. After praying fervently, God gave us direct instructions and we are now members of The Journey Church in Avon, Indiana; which we absolutely love. We also prayed to God about moving from the house we have been renting. We love the house and love the area but Greenwood, IN is a good distance from our church and we eventually, we want to be fully involved.

Let me just say, that when you pray to God, make sure you’re ready to receive his answer. Despite praying to God about whether we should move closer to the church or renew our lease here, in the back of my mind, I was set on renewing our lease. My husband on the other hand, was adament that we didn’t know if that was what God wanted for us. Thank God for my God-fearing husband because he was patiently waiting for an answer, even if we received one the day before our lease was set to renew. I was just ready to make a decision already.

One day, I called the property management company for some questions I had regarding an issue with one of our neighbors and right before ending the phone call, the property manager says, “Oh, I wanted to let you know that the landlord decided to put the house up for sale. You will be served by a sheriff in the next couple days with some paperwork but I wanted to let you know ahead of time so it didn’t catch you by surprise”. Well, I was surprised, lol. I was speachless after that call and the only thing my husband could do was smile. We had been praying about this decision and it was like God was telling us, more so, me, you set your mind on something but that’s not what I have for you.

Listen! Don’t pray to God if you’re not ready for his answers!!

Alright, so! We went rental hunting and couldn’t find anything at all. Either the price wasn’t right or the house itself had some sort of issue and we weren’t finding anything that we felt good with. Then my husband tells me this, “we don’t even know if God is wanting us to rent. Maybe it’s our time to buy a house again”. And once again, here I go set in my way. Buying is too expensive right now. We don’t even have the credit for it right now… BUT GOD!

I eventually started looking at houses for sale on Zillow. No realtor or anything. Just browsing. There was this one house that had 5 bedrooms and was only $312,000. That’s a steal in this market nowadays. Well, I saved the house and a week later came back to it. I told my husband, “lets just go look it at“, and I set an appointment to view the house. The night before the tour, I prayed to God that if it was his time for us buy a house again, for him to open the doors that needed to be opened.

We went to see the house and the sales agent that gave us the tour told us that there were some new homes being built in that same neighborhood. Now, we’ve gone through the new build process before and although it was a blessing to have been able to buy a brand new home, it was also very stressful for us. We were new parents at the time and had just found out I was pregnant again and it was just a mess. It took us close to a year to close on our first new build and I just didn’t want to do that again. Especially with the fact that we would have to live with family again during the process. But we went to tour the house and it was beautiful. I alway said that if we were to buy again, it had to be a house with at leaset 5 bedrooms since we have four kids. The house we saw had 5 rooms just like we had asked for and it was in the country side, just like I’ve always wanted.

With all the positives on the new build we saw, we decided, hey, lets see if we can get pre-qualified. And we did!

WE ARE BUYING A HOUSE, YOU GUYS!

At the time this blog post goes live, we have already moved back in with my parents, the purchase agreement to our new house has already been signed and we are working towards saving our down payment. And the best part yet, the house is only 25 minutes from our church versus our weekly hour drive. It can’t get any better than that.

We are so excited to start sharing more updates on the construction of the house and eventually, show you an empty house tour! For now, help us pray that just as God opened the doors for us, that everything goes as smooth as possible, having faith that he is and has always been in control.
