The Mission Field Home: A New Purpose

For a while now, I’ve felt the Lord nudging me to step back into something I used to do before. If you’ve been here for a bit, you probably knew this space as Life With The Canos. This name carried so much for me. It captured our everyday family life, our homeschooling journey, our routines and moments in between. It was cozy, personal and rooted in the season we were in. But seasons change and so do we.

Over time, I began to feel this pull to speak to something more, something that has always been on my heart: the heart of homemaking as a ministry.

I’ve always loved homemaking. Not just the baking and the cozy routines, but the deeper calling behind it. The idea that our homes can be a light, a place of peace, and a place where faith is lived out daily is what captivated me. But there was a time when I was caught in a different season. During that time, I didn’t feel capable of leaning into the vision I had for my home or my platform.

For a while, I stepped away from creating homemaking content, not because the passion wasn’t there, but because I was in a season of deep healing and rest. I needed time to let God tend to the parts of me that had grown weary and worn out from the constant need to measure up, the comparison trap and if I’m completely honest, church and spiritual burnout. In this last season, He reminded me that I didn’t have to try so hard to pour out, be seen or be productive to be valuable. My heart needed stillness, and my soul needed tending. And now, I return to this space with a renewed vision, not from a place of pressure, but from a place of peace.

Something has definitely shifted. God has started softening my heart again and gently reminding me that home is my mission field. Not later. Not once everything is perfect. But right now, in the middle of dishes, math lessons, sibling fights and bedtime prayers.

So, The Mission Field Home was born.

This new name isn’t just a fresh start, it’s a declaration of purpose. It’s about recognizing the sacred work happening in our homes every single day. It’s about embracing homemaking, homeschooling, motherhood and even marriage, not just as responsibilities, but as kingdom work. Moving forward, this space will be more intentionally focused on what it means to live missionally right where God has placed us: in our kitchens, living rooms, laundry piles and homeschool tables.

So whether you’ve been with me since Life With The Canos (and even before that), or you’re just joining, I want you to know:

You are welcome here.

Your home is holy ground.

And you don’t have to leave your front door to live on a mission.

Let’s grow together, right here, where faith meets home.
