House Update: T-48 Days Until Closing

It’s been over a month since we announced that we were buying a house. Since that announcement things have seriously ebbed and flowed during this whole process. I wish I would’ve remembered all the emotions that go with the whole building and buying a house from when we bought our first one 8 years ago.

There’s been so many good moments during this process but there’s also been moments that haven’t been all that great. Like when unexpected things pop up on your credit and you have to dispute it because that collection actually belonged to a deceased friend of yours. Our credit dropped significantly when that collection hit. Thankfully we were able to dispute it and have it removed from our credit.

We have literally seen God’s hand during this entire time. Our lender decided not to pull our credit again once we’re closer to our closing date. So we will be closing on our house with the original credit they pulled, which is great. This allows us to focus on saving for the deposit versus dealing with credit issues.

One of the most exciting things about this process has been seeing the house get built. I told Orlando recently that God seriously pays attention to detail when it comes to his children. There were certain things that I wanted if we ever decided to buy another house, and so did Orlando. They were things that were left unspoken because we didn’t have intentions on buying anytime soon. But when we went to see the progress one day, we both were in awe.

This being a DR Horton Spec Home, we didn’t have the opportunity to choose any design aspect of the house. With our first build, 8 years ago, we chose everything. So this time around, we had no idea what to expect. We didn’t know what color the exterior of the house would be. We didn’t know what type of appliances we would have. We knew nothing. But the black and white farmhouse look was always a dream of mine. And God did that. The gas stove and appliances that will be put in, God did that. The type of HVAC system that excited my husband (because he’s an HVAC technician himself), God did that. I’m telling you, God pays attention to detail.

This home is a 5 bedroom, 3 full bathroom house with a loft upstairs and a bonus room downstairs that will be used as my home library. Its truly perfect for our family right now. We are 48 days away from closing and we couldn’t be more excited to move into our new home. Here are some of our progress pictures.
